About the Department
About Us
The Civil Engineering Department was established in the year 1981 by offering a degree course in Civil Engineering. In 1986, Post Graduate Programmes in the areas of Geo-technical Engineering and Structural Engineering were introduced.
The Civil Engineering Department consists of 12 full-time Professors / Asst. Professors covering all the major areas of Civil Engineering.
The department is housed in a separate building, where DDIT was born. The department’s existing infrastructure facilities include State-of-Art Computer Center and independent Testing Laboratories in the areas of Geo-technical, Structural, Environmental, Transportation and Concrete Technology. The Environmental Audit Cell and the Structural Design Center of the department also play a pivotal role.
Consulting and Testing Services to government agencies and industries are regularly provided by the department. Continuing Education programmes in association with the Institution of Engineers, Indian Geo-Technical Society, Institute of Civil Engineers and Architects and other professional bodies are also regularly organised.
Consultancy Services Offered
The Civil Engineering Department carries out Consultancy Services and Third Party Audits in following areas :
Structural Engineering : FEM modeling and Analysis, Soil-Structure Interaction, Design of Industrial Structures, Machine Foundations, Multi-story Buildings.
Geotechnical Engineering : Subsurface Investigations including Soil Bearing Capacity, Field and Laboratory Soil Testing, Analysis and Design of Foundations (Machine Foundations, Raft, Pile/Pile Groups)
Environmental Engineering : Water and Waste Water Analysis, Air Pollution monitoring, Environmental Auditing.
Construction Engineering : Concrete Mix Design, Concrete and Highway Material Testing (Destructive and Non-destructive). Quality Audits
Water Supply & Sanitary Engineering : Network Design
