The Civil Engineering Department was established in the year 1981 by offering a degree course in Civil Engineering. In 1986, Post Graduate Programmes in the areas of Geo-technical Engineering and Structural Engineering were introduced.
The Civil Engineering Department consists of 12 full-time Professors / Asst. Professors covering all the major areas of Civil Engineering.
The department is housed in a separate building, where DDIT was born. The department’s existing infrastructure facilities include State-of-Art Computer Center and independent Testing Laboratories in the areas of Geo-technical, Structural, Environmental, Transportation and Concrete Technology. The Environmental Audit Cell and the Structural Design Center of the department also play a pivotal role.
Consulting and Testing Services to government agencies and industries are regularly provided by the department. Continuing Education programmes in association with the Institution of Engineers, Indian Geo-Technical Society, Institute of Civil Engineers and Architects and other professional bodies are also regularly organised.
